Please note that the categories for this year’s National Advertising Awards are Direct, Interactive and Young Media.
Over the course of the competition’s eight year history the categories have changed from year to year. Last year we had our biggest competition ever with eight categories that allowed us to send 16 winners to Cannes; this year, mainly as a reflection of the past year’s economy, the competition is comprised of a category trio.
If your favourite category from past years isn’t available, we hope you’ll venture into some uncharted territory and try a new one. We are optimistic that next year will see the return of a more diverse group of creative categories and of course more trips to Cannes.
Direct Category (brand: Toyota)
This category challenges entrants to prepare and submit a creative solution to the client’s brief that is to be executed through a direct marketing platform.
Interactive Category (brand: Sympatico.ca)
This category challenges entrants to prepare and submit an innovative creative solution to the client’s brief that is to be executed solely through one or more online platforms. These platforms can include traditional banner/big box ads, social networking, websites/micro-sites, email campaign, blog, online video, etc.
Young Media Category (brand: Corona Extra)
This category challenges entrants to prepare and submit an innovative, comprehensive media plan based on the client brand’s brief.
