As a Jury Chair you really only have two jobs. First, choose and secure an exceptional panel of judges. Second, stay sober enough during the after judging drinks to make sure someone covers the bar tab.
I humbly submit I did well in both areas. Our judges were both diligent and tough and as far as I know, no one was permanently barred from the Spoke Club.
I judged the NAA back in 2006, and returning this year I was excited to see the continued evolution in digital work. So, thank you to everyone who submitted, and congratulations to our winners, your campaigns combined fresh ideas and comprehensive thinking.
There is one caveat to this year’s contest… while our first place winners are enjoying a well-deserved trip to Cannes, the jury decided not to award a Gold. They believed the campaigns, while extremely high on engagement, didn’t do enough to meet the primary objective of the brief, which was to drive awareness.
I’d like to personally thank the judges for their time and efforts, and the NAA for continuing to host this great venue for recognizing and fostering Canadian creativity.
